GMC members invited to participate in DMTC’s digital uplift program

July 3, 2023

Increasing the digital uplift of Victorian businesses makes them more resilient, diversified, and competitive across domestic and international markets and supply chains, including in the defence sector.

The Smart Enough® Factory Project has been specifically developed by DMTC to assist companies interested in providing services to the defence industry supply chain to boost their digital literacy and harness the benefits of the digitisation of manufacturing. Over the course of a six-month project, delivered with support from the Victorian Government, participating businesses are assisted along their digital transformation journey without significant disruption to their day-to-day operations.

By equipping participants with the ‘Factory in a Box’ kit, access to subject matter experts, and bespoke Industry 4.0 applications, the Smart Enough® Factory program provides a practical, low-cost and low-code way for companies to understand the value of data capture and analysis; quantify the benefits of best practice business systems and factory connectivity; and optimise the performance of their existing equipment to add more value to their customers.

The ability to readily demonstrate these features in a real manufacturing environment provides an immediate benefit – the hands-on experience allows participants to realise a return on investment and be both well-positioned and excited to continue their Industry 4.0 transformation. AW Bell CEO Sam Bell said of the program, “we highly recommend any manufacturing company jump on board, we couldn’t speak more highly of it. DMTC has been great to work with, professional and very understanding of the challenges that businesses face.”

In addition to supporting businesses, the program is also contributing to the development of human capital and addressing future workforce challenges by offering undergraduate internships to students pursuing relevant qualifications at Victorian universities.

DMTC is looking for businesses to join our next Victorian Smart Enough® Factory cohort which will start with an Introductory Workshop in Geelong on 26 July. (There is no obligation to sign up to the Program until after the Introductory Workshop)

If you’re an SME in the Geelong region and interested in this program, you can apply through DMTC’s online Expression of Interest form: here.
