The Geelong Innovation Expo was held at The Pier on 15th June. Each year the Expo is aimed at promoting Geelong industry links with Deakin University and the CSIRO especially through collaborative projects that produce tangible advantages for Geelong manufacturing.
Hon Philip Dalidakis, Minister for Small Business, Innovation and Trade officially opened this fourth annual Expo to 210 attendees and exhibitors. Member for Geelong Christine Couzens MP also took part. The Expo theme of Innovate, Collaborate, Create brought key parts of the innovation process together as attendees heard of new local success stories in novel materials, products and research. Our MC for the day, Ben Spincer kept the show rolling introducing the speakers and taking questions from the floor.
The morning was capped off by a keynote address over lunch with Larry Lopez, Director Accelerating Commercialisation sharing his wealth of experience with finance in connection with start-up companies. Larry’s insights proved to be the most popular segment of the day and attendees were able to take away wide ranging and valuable business tips. Accelerating Commercialisation is the arm of the Entrepreneurs’ Programme that helps small and medium businesses, entrepreneurs and researchers to commercialise novel products, services and processes. Contact the GMC to find out more on this.
