GMC member Melbourne Avalon Airport continues to grow its position as a major logistics and export gateway, following a new Memorandum of Understanding with the Australia Saudi Logistics Alliance (ASL Alliance).
Geelong’s strength as a manufacturing base is reinforced by this partnership, which will support direct cargo services between Australia and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, complementing existing infrastructure and unlock faster access to a rapidly growing market.
The announcement builds on the airport’s recently opened $8 million freight processing facility, a 24/7 hub capable of handling up to 100,000 tonnes of cargo annually and significantly boosting Victoria’s export capacity.
Together, these developments position Avalon as a key international cargo gateway – creating new opportunities for exporters, freight operators, and investors, while strengthening Australia’s global trade connections.
