Defence Supply chain uplift program (SCUP)

May 21, 2026

Victorian manufacturers looking to break into defence have a new opportunity through the Victorian Government’s Supply Chain Uplift Program (SCUP). The program offers matched grants of $2,000 to $100,000 to help businesses build capability, lift compliance and strengthen their position in Hanwha Defence Australia’s supply chain. Funding can be used for certifications, tender readiness, facility upgrades, product development and defence R&D. So far, 44 Victorian businesses have received support through the program. To apply, businesses must have an ABN, a Victorian presence, matched co-contribution funding, and be registered on Hanwha’s BenchOn portal. The program is aimed at supporting suppliers pursuing work linked to LAND 8116 and LAND 400 Phase 3.

The program has currently provided 44 Victorian businesses with funding across SCUP. Those grants have helped manufacturers improve certifications, upgrade facilities, strengthen cyber readiness and invest in product development and defence R&D. For manufacturers, that means practical support to get defence-ready and compete for major supply chain opportunities. Grants are available on a 1:1 matched-funding basis and applications remain open, making now a strong time for eligible businesses to assess their readiness and engage with GMC Major Partner Hanwha Defence Australia. Businesses must register on the BenchOn portal before applying.
