Premier Daniel Andrews announced this morning the opening of a Victorian defence procurement office headquartered at Geelong’s Deakin University Waurn Ponds campus. Open for business from today the procurement office will strengthen Geelong’s bids for a number of defence contracts. Geelong has been working hard to promote the region’s capabilities to manufacture the $10billlion Land 400 armoured vehicle and support other significant defence projects. The combination of the defence procurement office and the Deakin University defence research & industry office provides a great boost to prospects for Geelong Manufacturing and Engineering businesses.
