Greater Geelong and the Japan Australia Cocreation Foundation(JACF) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand trade, investment, innovation and cultural ties. The agreement will connect businesses, startups, investors and researchers across clean energy, advanced manufacturing, digital innovation, design and creative industries.
A Geelong Japan Australia Cocreation Centre will be established at Wurriki Nyal’s Global Hub to support commercialisation and joint projects, including renewable hydrogen, battery storage, smart cities and sustainable urban development.
Greater Geelong Mayor Stretch Kontelj said, “This could mean further diversifying our local economy, creating new jobs and enhancing Geelong’s international profile.” JACF’s David Buchanan said, “That creates a very practical opportunity for us to work together,” linking companies, universities, governments and researchers to turn collaboration into investment, technologies and commercial outcomes.
