Seed2STEM travels to Wyndham

July 8, 2025

GMC was thrilled to run the first Girls Leading Advanced Manufacturing (GLAM) Seed2STEM program for students in the Wyndham region.

Eleven students from four schools across Wyndham and Hobson’s Bay graduated from the program.

The students enjoyed two jam-packed weeks, with six days of tours to manufacturers across the region, including at GMC members Air Radiators, Hanwha and Deakin University as well as Toyota.

GMC program officer Nicole Rosbergen said the program had been life-changing for many of the girls.

“The program has provided life-changing experiences for the girls with many of them now wanting to pursue a career in STEM and manufacturing,”

Many of the students got their first taste of technologies like Virtual Reality, 3D printing, coding, robot making and flying drones.

“At the start of the program, many of the girls were shy and reluctant to speak in front of the group and by the end they hosted and ran the graduation, with each student presenting a slideshow about their experience.

“We’ve already had parents wanting to enrol their kids in future programs”.

All graduating students were offered a $300 scholarship which would come off their school fees for the following year.

Seed2Stem is supported by the Australian Government.
