$10m support for bioenergy from organic waste projects

Sustainability Victoria is delivering $10 million in grants to encourage investment in the state’s bioenergy sector.

The Waste to Energy – Bioenergy Fund will support projects that create bioenergy from organic waste, the output of which may be electricity, heat, gas or liquid fuels. Funding is also available to develop end uses for the residual products created by the treatment process.

The fund will support projects that increase the production of bioenergy, increase the diversion of organic material from landfill, increase abatement of greenhouse gases and increase bioenergy business opportunities.

The fund is aimed at a range of sectors, including but not limited to:

  • Agricultural and livestock
  • Forestry
  • Food production
  • Food retail including the hotel industry
  • Wastewater management

Funding will support projects at different stages of their development through 2 streams:

Grant guidelines – Stream 1: Project Development: for grants between $20,000 and $250,000.
Grant guidelines – Stream 2: Project Infrastructure: for grants between $50,000 and $1 million.
