Geelong manufacturers are leading the advanced manufacturing transition across Australia, with four Geelong Manufacturing Council member organisations and a new entrant into the region sharing in $10.2m funding through the first round of the Federal Government’s Advanced Manufacturing Growth Fund.
The grants will see well-known Geelong manufacturers invest in high value, innovative new processes and products. The $10.2m funded will lead to approximately $49m of total investment in the region’s advanced manufacturing sector, creating new opportunities as the manufacturing industry transitions from traditional, heavy industrial processes to knowledge-based manufacturing of higher value products.
Geelong Manufacturing Council welcomed news of the funding. These companies are investing in innovation, skills and their existing operations in the region. Importantly, in addition to servicing existing markets, they are developing and moving into new markets. This is about investment now and in the future, and demonstrates a level of confidence in the Geelong region.
