Lara-based Cobram Estate Olives has cemented its position as one of Australia’s major manufacturing success stories, using its Geelong region operations as a springboard to make serious inroads into the United States.
The company farms, produces, bottles, stores and tests olive oil locally, supported by integrated bottling and storage facilities, the Modern Olives laboratory, and olive tree nursery. Through its control of every stage, from tree to bottle, Cobram Estate has earned a global reputation producing some of the world’s finest extra virgin olive oil.
Cobram Estate is Australia’s largest vertically integrated olive farmer and marketer of premium extra virgin olive oil, with more than 2.6 million trees across 7,000 hectares in central and north-west Victoria and brands including Cobram Estate and Red Island. Its US expansion has now taken a major step forward through the acquisition of California Olive Ranch, the number one-selling brand of Californian-produced extra virgin olive oil in the United States.
The acquisition strengthens Cobram Estate’s growing US operations, giving the company ownership of two of California’s top 10 extra virgin olive oil brands while increasing its olive-growing footprint from approximately 1,422 hectares to 3,292 hectares.
Cobram Estate remains headquartered in Lara, with its Geelong base continuing to support the company’s Australian farming, production and quality assurance activities.
