New Composites course to help build advanced manufacturing workforce

The Advanced Fibre Cluster, and GMC Major Partner, The Gordon, have launched a new composites manufacturing micro-skills program, delivering a practical pathway to help build Australia’s future advanced manufacturing workforce.

Developed in partnership with industry, the program provides free, hands-on training with direct exposure to modern manufacturing technologies, composites, and automation. It targets capability growth across key sectors including aerospace, renewable energy, marine, automotive, and construction.

Importantly, the course requires no prior experience, opening the door for new entrants to gain real-world skills and industry insight.

Course dates

Course 1: Monday 27 July – Friday 31 July 2026

Course 2: Monday 10 August – Friday 14 August 2026

This initiative demonstrates how strong collaboration between industry, education, and government can deliver job-ready talent and strengthen the pipeline of skilled workers needed to support the growth of advanced manufacturing.
