GMC manufacturers explore defence work at Hanwha’s H-ACE facility

GMC manufacturing members recently received a briefing and toured Hanwha Defence Australia’s Armoured vehicle Centre of Excellence (H-ACE) state-of-the-art 32,000sqm manufacturing facility at Avalon.

The visit gave members a first-hand look at Hanwha’s work delivering the LAND 8116 Phase 1 Huntsman vehicles, including the Self-Propelled Howitzer and Armoured Ammunition Resupply Vehicle, for the Australian Defence Force.

The tour also highlighted Hanwha’s commitment to growing Australian industry capability through local manufacturing, technology transfer and long-term partnerships with suppliers.

Hanwha has engaged with more than 1,000 businesses to support its mobilisation, programs and facility build, creating opportunities for Australian companies to contribute skills, solutions and services to defence projects.

The Victorian Land Systems Fund – Supply Chain Uplift Program (SCUP) is designed to support defence-ready manufacturers Victorian manufacturers looking to build defence capability so they can participate in Hanwha Defence Australia supply chains linked to major land systems projects, including LAND 8116 and LAND 400 Phase 3. Eligible businesses can apply for matched grants between $2,000 and $100,000 to support activities such as gaining accreditations, meeting compliance requirements, preparing tenders, undertaking minor facility upgrades, developing defence products or services, and investing in defence research and development.
