An exhibition commemorating 160 years of the life and times of carpet and textiles manufacturer, Godfrey Hirst, has opened at the Australian Wool Museum.
Speaking at the opening, President of Godfrey Hirst Asia Pacific, Tania Pauling said the secret of Godfrey Hirst’s longevity was a competitive drive and pride that extended across the organisation.
“We want to be the best at what we do,” she said.
“There is an X factor at Godfrey Hirst when we come together, an ability to adapt and change.”
Ms Pauling said investing in Geelong “is at the heart of who we are.”
Countless Geelong families and many generations have worked at the carpet and textiles factory over its 160 years.
Descendents of the English migrant, Godfrey Hirst, who started the company in 1865, attended the event.
You can see the MADE IN GEELONG: Godfrey Hirst exhibition at the National Wool Museum from now until 1 February 2026.
