The Powering the Regions Industrial Transformation Stream (ITS) program, funded by ARENA, supports regional Australian industrial facilities in reducing Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions through electrification, energy efficiency, and renewable technologies.
Round 3, with $180 million in funding, focuses on two key areas:
Focus Area 1: Innovation in industrial decarbonisation, which backs first-of-a-kind technologies such as novel processing routes and advanced thermal energy storage not yet tested in Australia; and
Focus Area 2: Advancing commercial deployment, which aims to accelerate the uptake of proven but not yet widely adopted solutions like electric boilers, heat pumps, and solar thermal energy. The program also promotes workforce upskilling, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across industries and regions.
