Geelong-based agri-manufacturing success stories, Cobram Estate and Boomaroo Nurseries, shared their future growth plans last week with Geelong Mayor, Cr Trent Sullivan, during the first of a series of Mayoral tours of manufacturing in the region.

Hosted by GMC Chair, Thys Heyns, the tour included briefings from senior leaders at both companies.  Visitors were impressed by the magnitude of both businesses and their contributions to the Geelong economy.

Cobram Estate, with its headquarters in Corio, is the largest olive oil producer in Australia, processing 70 per cent of Australia’s olive oil in Lara. It has grown over 25 years into Australia’s number one extra virgin olive oil brand, producing from its own groves in Victoria and South Australia, as well as exporting to 14 countries.

Boomaroo Nurseries, based in Lara, is the largest vegetable seedling producer in the country – over 300 million a year – producing approximately 40% of the leafy green vegetables grown from a seedling on the Eastern seaboard from their Lara and Queensland nurseries.
