GMC’s efforts in future workforce development continued this week with a Careers Practitioners’ Immersion Day. With support from the Department of Education and GMC members, careers practitioners and pathways professionals engaged in a day of learning about the workforce requirements in the advanced manufacturing sector, with a focus on the clean economy.
GMC sponsors Viva Energy, Godfrey Hirst, Worley, Incitec Pivot and The Gordon, and members Hanlon Industries participated in the day hosting workplace tours and joining a lunchtime round table discussion before a tour of Geelong Tech School to view their state of the art facilities.
The group were also able to view an augmented reality welding simulator training tool provided by Welding Australia – a demonstration of advancing technology creating a safe and efficient training environment.
