What we need from Government
We need Governments to:
- Welcome Business!
- Encourage investment
- Remove obstacles & duplication
- Lift the burden of compliance
- Remove unwarranted industrial relations complexity
- Create industrial and employment zones that free up industrial land and smooth compliance.
We need Governments to:
Be proud of manufacturing. Be proud of Defence Industry.
Why
- Federal, State and Local Government regulations and taxes are insidious and industry-choking. There is a disconnect between stated Government economic growth objectives and the policies that are supposed to deliver those objectives. Investment flows are leaving.
- Unwarranted Government interventions (i.e. WFH legislation, highly interventionist Industrial Relations laws) add complexity, costs, reduce productivity and stifle Australian and Victorian manufacturing competitiveness.
- Government silence (perceived or otherwise) about the economic and strategic importance of manufacturing and defence industry de-motivates industry and the investor community and flows on to impact talent and workforce attraction and retention.
