Real projects produce real results – registrations open for GMC Leadership for Manufacturing Excellence Program

July 2, 2026

The latest cohort of GMC’s Leadership for Manufacturing Excellence (LfME) Program graduated last month, producing significant and measurable business improvements for their organisations.

During the program, frontline and emerging leaders worked on workplace improvement projects that applied lean, leadership and innovation tools and techniques to solve real business challenges – often tackling issues that had long sat in the “too hard” or “we’ll get to it one day” basket.

Most projects were trialled at a single work centre or small scale, with minimal or no capital expenditure, yet delivered impressive results:

Seven organisations delivered seven unique improvement projects throughout the program, achieving the following outcomes across their individual businesses:

  • $78K per week additional capacity
  • 432 administrative hours saved
  • 150% increase in output
  • $59K in cost savings
  • 83% reduction in scrap
  • $700K additional annual margin
  • $82K in process efficiency savings

These outcomes demonstrate the power of equipping emerging leaders with practical skills and the opportunity to apply them in their own workplaces. Many participating organisations report productivity gains and cost savings worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Registrations are now open for GMC’s renowned Leadership for Manufacturing Excellence Program, commencing in August. Delivered through eight workshops over eight months, the program builds manufacturing expertise, strengthens leadership capability and develops a practical understanding of lean principles. Participants complete a real business improvement project throughout the program, ensuring learning is translated into tangible workplace outcomes.

Designed for emerging and frontline leaders, the program creates capability that benefits both the individual and the business – delivering immediate results while building the leaders manufacturers need for the future.
